BIG UPDATE: SBI Digital Services Unavailable Today, Know Why They are Down and When They Will Resume Again

State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest public sector bank, has announced a temporary disruption of its digital services today, April 1, 2025, due to annual financial year-end closing activities. The scheduled downtime will occur between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM Indian Standard Time (IST), affecting key platforms such as Internet Banking, YONO, and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services. SBI has advised customers to utilize alternative channels during this period to minimize inconvenience. Specifically, UPI Lite—a streamlined version of UPI designed for small-value transactions up to ₹500 per transaction—and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) services will remain operational and can be used for uninterrupted banking activities.

The bank issued an official statement addressing the planned outage:

In addition to SBI’s scheduled maintenance, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has indicated that some banks may experience intermittent transaction declines today due to financial year-end closing procedures. NPCI assured that the UPI system is functioning correctly and that efforts are underway with the concerned banks to address any issues promptly. Customers are encouraged to plan their banking activities accordingly, considering the temporary unavailability of certain digital services. Utilizing UPI Lite for smaller transactions and ATMs for cash withdrawals and other essential services can help mitigate the impact during the downtime. SBI has expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of its customers during this essential maintenance period.

WHAT TO DO IN THE MEAN TIME

  • People can use alternative bank accounts such as HDFC, ICICI, PNB ,etc. to resolve their problems.
  • UPI PAYMENTS can still work with alternative bank accounts.
